Matchy matchy

Now that Allie is getting bigger (10 lbs. 8 oz!) she was finally able to fit into the 3 month matching dresses that we had gotten them..(yes I'm that mom). The funny thing that my brother was reminded me about was how much I used to hate wearing matching dresses when I was a kid. My mom is a wonderful seamstress so we ALWAYS had matching dresses...Mom, DaNae and me. Although I was almost in 5th grade at that time. (yes I am justifying) Kaiya wasn't in a great mood for taking pictures but we did get a couple to work.

BTW: Kaiya turned 16 months yesterday.

16 Month Accomplishments

  • I can say GO (thanks grandma Carlson), eat, thank you, b
ye, hi. shoes and a ton of jibberish on the phone!
  • I am a TV aholic. I go into the movie drawer and bring mom the movies I want to watch.
  • I am the MASTER of the remote.
  • I help mom with Allie. I help feed her...who says the bottle doesn't go in the eye, I help "burp" her...mom says it's not hitting, I can give her her pacifier when she cries, and I LOVE to push her in the swing
  • I've got tons of rad moves... i love to twirl in circles until I fall down. I've invented my own form of dancing
  • I can push a broom around like no ones business.
  • I love to hop in the front seat of the van and drive

my creative side

Kaiya is now getting in touch with her creative side. She is using the crayons that Uncle Matt and Aunt Gretchen got her for her birthday instead of eating them :)

Allie's colic

So our little miss Allie has been dealing with colic. From what we understand colic is from gasiness and fussiness due to this discomfort. We have been doing everything that we can read to help her out...so recently we went to the chiropractor. Her first trip was on Monday...that night she pooped which is amazing since she has been going only once a week. That night she slept 8 1/2 hours from 1am-9:30am without waking. It was beautiful. She then had another appointment on Wednesday. She still has episodes of fussiness that last from 1-3 hours but it's not quite as bad and she pooped again today. If the only thing going to the chiropracter does for her is loosen her up...that's worth it. Even admist her colic...she's still so darn cute!

Tim's classroom

So this WAS the start of Tim's 1st grade classroom at Dakota Elementary. For 4 days straight we worked on his classroom. Then last Friday night as we are in the classroom working he gets a call from the principal to let us know that there is a 6th grade opening there at Dakota and seeing if Tim would be interested. After much prayer and conversing with family we agreed that this would be the best move for Tim to teach the older children and be closer to the age level he has been teaching.

SO LONG 1st grade classroom...it was fun while it lastest AND

Hello 6th Grade

Sorry the photos are so blurry..i'll try to get some better ones this weekend.

1 month old

Allie is officially 1 month old today. I was finally able to capture a picture of her smiling.

Walk in my Shoes

Today Kaiya did the cutest thing. She came into the kitchen where I was cleaning wearing my shoes. It was adorable. It really made me realize how much she is watching us and learning from us. Walking in our shoes....it made me think about our relationship with God. Am I walking in His shoes? Am I allowing Him to lead me? When Tim and I were going through all the craziness this last couple of years I could confidently answer yes. Because that was the only thing that we could do to make it through. We relied on God for everything, but as I was telling one of my friends it's amazing how fast you forget those two years. It's easy for me to forget how deep that trench was and to jump into the comfort of life where I am not as desperate for God. I don't want to do that. I don't want to loose sight of Him. I don't want to walk anywhere He isn't. It just really put things in perspective.

Heritage Museum

On Saturday of the birthday weekend we went roller blading down by the river in Bismarck. Tim and I both pushed strollers and enjoyed the exercise and the beauty. The river was up and it was great to see. Kaiya ended up falling asleep as we were nearing the end of our rollerblading and since she hadn't had a nap all day we kept rollerblading for another 40 minutes. Right at the end of the 40 minutes as we were getting back to the van it started downpouring. We got the girls inside just in time. It decided to rain the rest of the day so we went to the Bismarck Heritage Museum to run off some steam.

Kaiya riding the horse and churning butter...

Bismarck Zoo

So for my birthday and before Tim had to start school we went to Bismarck to get away for the weekend with the girls. It was such a wonderful weekend. We got into town and ate at Pancheros...it's like a Chipotle. I absolutely love it. Then we hit up Kohl's... Tim, Kaiya and I all got new shoes. (good sales) We then decided to hit the Bismarck Zoo. I have to admit that I was pretty disappointed with the upkeep of the zoo. The grounds looked aweful and the exhibits all smelled, but we still had a good time being together. Kaiya loved seeing all the animals.

Looking at the otters!

I'm pretty sure she is telling the otters to "sit". That is her new favorite word...especially to tell cousin Tavia.

The llama's were probably one of Kaiya's favorite. To her it was a giant "Ki-EE"...for those of you who don't speak toddler that means "kitty".

Hanging out with the coronel

So usually on Sundays after church we hit KFC for their 1.99 buffet. The girls enjoy eating a variety of foods and then they love playing. Usually it isn't too full. So this is what they did on Sunday. Chillin with the coronel. (Sp?)

Allie's first bath

Allie had her first official sink bath on Saturday, August 2nd now that her umbilical cord is healed. She loved it. Usually when we do the sponge bath she cries the whole time. This time she was just wide-eyed being held in daddy's arms. Here's a few pics...
